too loud, too unique, too ‘me.’ in an act of defiance of everything i've been labelled as being ‘too much’ of, i'm utilizing my art as a loud, unique voice in order to express my experience and relationships with the self, gender, and within social groups. a texas native, i’m a 20 year-old printmaker and art historian who’s fighting to shed light on the intricacies of identity that are often overlooked as well as to celebrate the uniqueness of the self and the universal themes that go into what creates an individual, as i’ve had my fair share of suppressing my true self in order to ‘fit in.’ for me, creating art is to build upon a true, internal sense of self and is an act of creative defiance against expectations that I continue to utilize and empower throughout my career. i work with themes of identity, gender identity and transgenderism, and the translation of themes, concepts, and iconography associated with industrial music into a visual arts medium. stylistically, i primarily pull from futurism and constructivism in order to create bold, loud visual elements as well as the utilization of dynamism and heavy emphasis on technology and its intersection with humanity.
