a statement -
we are nothing if not a culmination of what we are immersed in. working with the theme of identity and the facets of what creates self-perception, my work explores gender and perseverance in a mainstream built against the radical, the unfamiliar, and the different. with the juxtaposition of themes and elements from industrial’s rivethead scene of the 90s and early 2000s, my art is a culmination of the old and new, the dead and alive, and the intersection of gender and personality, the exploration of the multitude of facets that identity is expressed by the self.
a favorite music genre, color, type of clothing that’s worn - all differing elements that build up one’s personality, expression, and resonance with people around you. these facets build upon the sense of introspection, examination of the mind and body, and social alignments that alter and create a sense of gender identity, of such intersection i am to explore in my art. the idea of being quiet in the face of repercussion, of ridicule for not 'fitting the standard' of the mainstream is something my art aims to defy as i explore the notion of loudness to express everything you cannot say in words.
